Generally medicines do produce some side effects and the degree of
the effect varies from person to person. Some of the side effects do
not require any treatment while some others have to be treated
immediately. Some of the side effects that are found to be
associated with Oxybutynin or Ditropan XL or Oxytrol are stated
below. They are abdominal discomfort, rash, constipation,
hallucinations, disorientation, palpitations, difficulty in passing
urine, diarrhea, abnormal heart beats, difficulty in passing urine,
dilated pupils, nausea, dry mouth, restlessness, increased blood
flow to the skin in the face, blurred vision and dizziness.
Some of the other side effects which require immediate medical
attention are difficulty in breathing, swelling of lips, tongue,
face and throat. The drug has to be discontinued if one has a pain
or burning sensation while passing urine, urinates less than normal
or doesn’t urinate at all, if one has extreme thirst and hot and dry
skin, or a severe pain in the stomach or constipation. There are
many drugs which might increase the effects when interacted with
Ditropan XL. The drugs which are prescribed for gastrointestinal
problems are not a good combination with Ditropan XL.
The medicines for mental problems also interact with Ditropan XL.
Medicines for Parkinson’s disease and for pain or sleep also
interact with Ditropan XL and thereby increase the effects. It is
always better to inform the physician about the previous
prescription that one already follows to avoid any ill effects.
Besides the drugs stated above Ditropan XL might also interact with
other drugs so a doctor’s advice and guidance would help avoiding
complications.
